Halftone art is a printing technique that uses thousands of tiny dots of varying sizes and spacing to create the illusion of smooth gradients, shading, and photographic detail. Because most t-shirt printing methods (like screen printing) can only lay down solid, flat layers of ink, they cannot naturally print a "faded" or semi-transparent color. Halftoning solves this by breaking an image into a grid of dots so small that, from a distance, your eye blends them together into a continuous tone.
